Report" Why so many new drugs are not selling well |
Why so many new drugs are not selling well
Over the last three years, the FDA has approved numerous new drugs that solve unmet medical needs, such as lupus, deadly melanoma and hepatitis C, gout, rare forms of lymphoma, safer anticoagulation than warfarin, and others (see our interview with the Director of the FDA's drug division). However, most of these new wonder drugs are not selling well, disappointing shareholders. Why?
Each drug has unique reasons for the poor launches, but a more important macro trend relates to the bad global economy. In non-U.S. countries, governments are pushing back on high drug prices.

Eylea Lucentis Avastin roundtable |
Eylea Lucentis Avastin roundtable
Soon, date to be determined, we will be hosting a discussion with Dr. Rosenfeld of Bascom Palmer to discuss the reasons that Regneron's Eylea is launching so well and taking market share from Roche's Lucentis. As you might know, Dr. Rosenfeld championed more than anyone the self-formulated Avastin as a cheaper alternative to Lucentis. He rarely gives interviews these days. |
